"Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk." - Sir Francis Chichester when asked why he carried so much alcohol on his solo sail around the world.

Foggy Solo Spinnaker Sailing on Bootlegger

There was an incredible amount of wind gradient when this was taken; on the water there was almost no wind and at the mid-mast level about 15 kts. Taken in 2015 while practicing for the Solo Mac.

2016 HOOK Race

The weather during the 2016 HOOK Race was a lot like the weather in St Louis; give it a minute and it'll change. The start was delayed for 9 hours due to a lack of wind and fog, and the highest wind we saw on our instruments was 53 knots (60.99 MPH). We finished 3rd in our section, very good, especially considering that we had never sailed on this part of Lake Michigan before the race and that this was our first time this season sailing together as a crew.
